PROF SUGIYONO GETS AWARD FROM MURI

Professor Dr. Sugiyono, Professor of Mechanical Engineering Education Department, Faculty of Engineering, and the Head of Education Management Study Program for Masters and Doctoral Programs, Yogyakarta State University, received an award from the Indonesian Record Museum Most Author of Books in the field of research methods. Symbolically, the certificate of appreciation was handed over by the Chancellor of the Yogyakarta State University, Prod. Dr. Sutrisna Wibawa, M.Pd. in conjunction with the 58th Anniversary of the Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University (07/02/2019). The Chancellor of UNY gave the highest appreciation for this achievement while hoping that this achievement would also inspire the UNY academic community.

"This record is an extraordinary achievement where Prof. Sugiyono has contributed various theories and best practices that have provided many benefits and become a reference for various researches, not only in education but also in science and social-humanities," said the Chancellor of UNY.

Previously, Professor Sugiyono has also been named the Most Author of Books in Indonesia in Research Methods by the Indonesian Lecturer Brotherhood (PDRI). There are 16 books in research by Professor Sugiyono, often used as reference material by many students at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels throughout Indonesia. In addition to research, Prof. Sugiyono is also active in producing books on fabrication, management and training, social humanities, and other educational themes.

His research method books often become literature in scientific work by lecturers and students because they are easy to understand. Some of the works of Prof. Dr. Sugiyono include "Qualitative Research Methods," "Non-Parametric Statistics for Research," "Educational Research Methods," "Comprehensive Action Research Methods," "Easy Ways to Learn SPSS & LISREL," "Policy Research Methods," "Statistics for Research," "Research and Development Methods," "Qualitative Research Methods," "Administrative Research Methods," "Combination Research Methods" and others.

According to Prof. Sugiyono, the low quality of human resources is strongly influenced by the implementation and results of education from various paths, levels, and types of education that are not adequate.

"The low quality of education delivery and outcomes is partly due to policymaking, curriculum development and evaluation systems that are not based on adequate research results," said the lecturer who also serves as the Head of Masters and Doctoral Program in Education Management for the Graduate Program of UNY.

"In improving the quality of education, of course, research results play a critical role, and to ensure research can produce accurate information, it is necessary to use appropriate research methods," continued the BAN-PT assessor.

That background is the concern of Prof. Sugiyono thus produced various books on research.
