MMEE LECTURER VISITING PROFESSOR TO UTM MALAYSIA

Two lecturers of UNY Department of Mechanical Engineering Education, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University, participated in the Visiting Professor activity to UTM Malaysia, which took place from August 25 until September 3, 2019. This activity is packaged in collaborative research and joint publications between UNY, UNDIP, KORI, and UTM lecturers. In this case, UTM is represented by the Center for Advanced Composite Materials (CACM). The two lecturers have additional funding, although they are still in the UNY DIPA fund. The two lecturers are Dr. Ir. Mujiyono, ST., MT., W.Eng. through funding from KUIK UNY as a lecturer with academic achievements in 2019, while Dr. eng. Ir. Didik Nurhadiyanto, ST., MT. using the research funds of the FT UNY international cooperation. In addition to this funding, research costs are still using the research activity funds of the Indonesian Ramie Consortium (KORI).

These activities are packaged in collaborative research and joint publications for nine days in research data collection and in-depth discussions related to publications. This research takes many themes, starting from researching the characteristics of ramie fiber with several treatments and harvesting age variables, researching bullet-proof panels of ramie with epoxy, researching bullet-proof panels for hardfacing ramie, and researching making bicycle frames made from ramie fiber, and research on house construction made from ramie. The test equipment used included the tensile test of ramie fiber, SEM test, firing test, quasi-static test, and drop test.

Didik explained that this activity would produce quite a lot of outputs and outcomes, including data and research reports, articles published in reputable international seminars, and articles published in reputable international journals. All articles published are joint publications between UNY, UNDIP, UTM, KORI. It is hoped that activities like this will continue to be carried out to increase the number of joint publications for UNY lecturers. Didik also said that in addition to collaborative research and joint publications, this activity also promoted UNY to international activities. In addition, it adds to the cooperation between UNY and universities both at home and abroad.
