UPDATE THE TECHNOLOGY AND COMPETENCY OF LECTURERS IN ROBOTIC WELDING

The Mechanical Engineering Education Master's study program in UNY held competency training for lecturers in robotic welding training. Robotic welding is a welding robot that is a new learning facility for applied undergraduate students. Therefore, the procurement of this welding robot is expected to be relevant to graduates' competencies with competencies in the world of work.

This welding robot is equipment that is currently needed in the manufacturing world. The manufacturing world is currently a growing industrial sector in Indonesia. Information submitted by the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) stated that currently, Indonesia is the largest manufacturing industrial base in ASEAN with a contribution of 20.27% to the national scale economy (https://www.investindonesia.go.id/id/articles). -investment/details/development...). As the largest manufacturing base in ASEAN, the prospect of employment in the manufacturing sector is very large and potential. The value-added manufacturing value for the Indonesian manufacturing industry is in the top position among ASEAN countries, with an achievement of 4.5%. Meanwhile, globally, Indonesian manufacturing is ranked 9th out of all countries in the world. Thus the procurement of this welding robot is a given potential for applied undergraduate study programs to produce students who can be accepted in the world of work.

Welding robot training is held at the Wates campus, where the Wates campus is a vocational campus of UNY. Robot training brings trainers from PT. OTC DAIHEN, who is already competent in welding robots. The material provided in training includes preparation before operating a robot, operating a robot, robot maintenance to overhaul, and programming of robot welding using FD-ST simulation. This training is expected to strengthen the quality of learning for students by strengthening the competence of vocational lecturers.
